About Me
I am a scientist, technologist, and entrepreneur focused on advancing health and knowledge, broadly. I work on improving our connection with our own biology.

Impact
As an entrepreneur, I focus on building platforms that can serve science, technology, and distribution innovations as infrastructure for our health and growth.
Technology
As a technologist, I have focused on developing technologies that can illuminate connections between molecular function, cellular processes, and human health. Today, these capabilities help to advance scientific knowledge (e.g., protein folding, pandemic evolution), drug development (e.g., antibody design, antibiotic resistance), molecular diagnostics (e.g., clinical genetics), and industrial manufacturing (e.g., biofuel production).
Science
As a scientist, my research has focused on enabling a continuum of understanding between molecular, cellular, and evolutionary mechanisms in health (e.g., development) and disease (e.g., cancer). A selection of first-author, peer-reviewed research is provided adjacently.
A complete collection of peer-reviewed, scientific research is available here (NIH; PubMed) and here (Google).
Education
I hold a doctorate (Ph.D.) in Genome Sciences from the University of Washington, and completed dual bachelor of science (B.S.) degrees in Molecular & Cellular Biology and Biotechnology at Washington State University. Additional formative trainings include management, entrepreneurship, business, and industry development programs from Andreessen Horowitz (a16z), Floodgate, SOSV (IndieBio), and Johnson & Johnson Innovation (JLABS), as well as participation in adventure racing teams (e.g., Costa Rica Eco-Challenge Team; 2001–2002).
Motivation
I am passionate about human culture and capabilities, which I believe together define our opportunities. I believe our species progresses through our joint effort and freedom to create. I am passionate about biodiversity and the right of a-living-chance for all species; I believe all lives are enriched in properly functioning ecosystems. I am passionate about exploration and the outdoors; I believe in extending our frontiers as individuals and a society through wonder in nature.

Education
I hold a doctorate (Ph.D.) in Genome Sciences from the University of Washington, and completed post-doctoral research in genomics and biophysics at Stanford University. Additional formative trainings include management, leadership, entrepreneurship, and business development programs from Andreessen Horowitz (a16z), Floodgate (Ideators), SOSV (IndieBio), and Johnson & Johnson Innovation (JLABS), as well as participation in adventure racing teams (e.g., Costa Rica Eco-Challenge Team; 2001–2002).
Motivation
I am passionate about our social incentives and capabilities, which I believe shape our culture and opportunities.
I live in Santa Barbara, California, with my wife and two young children, who remind on a daily-basis of the importance of pursuing happiness and living with wonder.
